The March 2014 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 94) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of interesting features. On the cover this month is a Borgward Isabella Coupe; “a Borgward what”, we hear you ask? Fans of European classics will no doubt be familiar with this very interesting German manufacturer, which ceased trading in 1961 but not before producing some highly attractive motors, including this 1959 Isabella Coupe that’s been in the same Irish ownership since it was two years old. Moving further into the magazine we take a look at the truly unique story of one couple’s relationship with their Triumph TR3, which they shipped to Montreal for their honeymoon in 1957 and undertook an unforgettable cross-continent road trip. A faithful Austin A35 also features, which was one of the cutest cars of the fifties yet was also one of the most capable.
Our tractor features this month are headed up by an absolutely stunning Fordson E1A Super Major, which was restored as its owner’s tribute to his late cousin, an ardent Fordson fan. Our other tractor feature is one with a difference, as it only seeks to scratch the surface of a very impressive collection from Co. Wexford, which contains many different marques but which has a lovely old Fordson Model N at its heart. {read more}
