101 October 2014

Cover 101 smallThe October 2014 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 101) is on sale now, and as ever is packed with a wide variety of interesting vehicle features. On the cover this month we’ve one of the finest executive saloons of the classic era, the Rover P5B 3.5 V8; the one we feature has just emerged from a marathon three-year restoration by its owner after being off the road since 1989, and we caught up with it on its first show outing to the Kilbroney Vintage Show in June, which is also reported upon in this issue. Our second car feature looks at a familiar model of a rare vintage: a 1937 Opel Kadett that’s been in the ownership of a Co. Mayo Opel dealer for some thirty years now, and has survived in very original condition. Our main tractor feature looks at the restoration of a Massey Ferguson 135 to stunning condition complete with a Longford cab, while the second looks at a beautifully-rebuilt Zetor Crystal 12045, once such a popular working tractor on Ireland’s roads but rare in this condition today. Motorcycle-wise this month we look at a gorgeous, just-rebuilt BSA Goldstar scrambler that harks back to “the good-old four-stroke days” – it’s been sitting disassembled since the late sixties, but its current owner has done a really beautiful job of resurrecting it – while our commercial feature looks at a real little rarity; a Ford sidevalve-powered Mercury Truck & Tractor work vehicle from the thirties. We’ve a huge array of event reports this month, including the Gordon Bennett Classic Car Run in Co. Laois, the Greybridge Vintage Show in Co. Limerick, and even a look at some auction news from Cheffins. All of our usual attractions are in there too, so you won’t want to miss the October 2014 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
