Thanks to the venue’s location adjacent to Birmingham International Airport, any car events held at the UK’s NEC exhibition centre have always been popular with Irish enthusiasts, who can fly in relatively cheaply from a number of airports here. While traditionally the season-ending Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show each November is the biggest draw for the Irish, the season-opening Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show held in March for the last few years has been starting to rival those figures, with its combination of stunning show cars and hands-on restoration attractions to really get the enthusiasm going for those projects back at home.
After previously being rescheduled to the 11th to 13th of June 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions, unfortunately the organisers of this year’s Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show have confirmed that it will now not be possible to run the event on that date, due to further restrictions unveiled by the UK government in recent days. Instead, all focus has now been shifted to hosting the event from the 18th to the 22nd of March 2022.
Event Director Lee Masters said: “We understand this will be as big of a disappointment to our exhibitors and visitors as it is to us. We have all been very much looking forward to getting back to some form of normality and ‘business as usual’. Lee added: “We have confidence that come the autumn, life will have returned to a more normal rhythm and we are planning the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, as usual for November.”
