West Wicklow Classic and Vintage Club's Annual Baltinglass Classic Car and Motorcycle run takes place this Sunday at 1:30 PM. Registration is from 1:30 and the cars set off at 2:30 sharp. This years run is in aid of the Solas Special Class for Autism which provides education and specialist services for children with Autism from all over West Wicklow. They are currently constructing a new building which will enable them to double pupil numbers and provide specialist services for the children. This is a hugely important service for the whole community and your support is greatly needed at the moment.
Some people will be familiar with the format of the Baltinglass Classic run having taken part in previous years events. The day gets under way with cars and bikes assembling in the area in front of Germaines from 12:30 and everybody in the area is invited to come along and see the vehicles and see what we are doing on the day. We then set off on a road run and we usually find some interesting point for a midway stop before embarking on the return leg to Germaines where we have dinner served by Joseph and his staff followed by a free drivers draw and then the main raffle. This year we have a special extra feature to the event. Tickets for a boxing glove autographed by Ireland's Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Taylor are currently on sale locally and this draw will also take place on the evening of the run.
All proceeds from the run and raffles will go to helping buy specialised equipment for the new rooms at the school and providing the specialist services that the Children with Autism need.Everybody with any type of interesting car od bike is urged to support this very special cause, there is no age limit on vehicles for this event and all classic, vintage or retro cars are welcome as are modified vehicles , kit cars, sports cars, bikes , trikes and any interesting vehicle. Even if you don't have a vehicle do come down and see whats happening. Make a donation if you wish and enjoy looking around the cars and bikes in the street.
