Retro Classics Magazine (Issue 25)
Description
The April to June 2017 issue of Retro Classics Magazine is now on sale, and as always is packed with features and event reports from the world of classic, retro and motorsport cars in Ireland. This issue’s cover carries a very special Porsche indeed – we ask the question “Is this the ultimate 911”, as with pre-facelift RSR looks but upgraded later 930 turbo internals it’s the best of both worlds. In fact this car is a mid-eighties car backdated to look like a pre-’73, and added to the mix are a while host of clever and unique touches to make this a German hot-rod like no other. Elsewhere in the magazine we look at machines as diverse as a GT/E-style Opel Kadett Coupe powered by a 20-valve Toyota engine, an ex-rallycar Mk1 Golf with a potent motorsport spec and show-stopping looks, a pair of much-loved Mk2 Escorts (one of which is a rare standard RS Mexico), and a totally unique roof-chopped, air-ride VW Beetle built at home. We also check out a Mk1 Capri 3000GT and a stunning Mercedes 300CE that packs a whole host of period eighties gear, so there’s certainly something for every taste! Turning to events, in this issue we traditionally take advantage of the quiet Irish show scene over the winter by covering some overseas events, including Autosport International, Race Retro, the Lancaster Insurance NEC Classic Motor Show and the London Classic Car Show, but we don’t neglect Ireland either with coverage from the Initial Rentokil Historic Rally of the Lakes, the Derek Walker Trial and many more events. We also tell you what to look out for when buying yourself a Volvo 240, a once-frumpy Swede that’s now a popular retro choice. Throw in News & Products, Diary Dates and Retro Club Scene and you’re left with another packed issue.
