Over the years the Kilbroney Vintage Show has grown to become one of the very largest classic car shows on the island of Ireland, attracting over 2,000 vehicles on occasion. Nestled at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Rostrevor in Co. Down, and facing out into Carlingford Lough, Kilbroney Forest Park is a stunning setting, attracting car owners and show-goers alike from all over Ireland and beyond every June.
Sadly, this coming June isn’t to be one of those occasions, as the organising committee of the event have announced that the 2021 running will not go ahead. “We approached 2021 in the hope that this year the Kilbroney Vintage Show would be able to proceed,” they state. “Unfortunately, due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 and social distancing measures expected to continue for some time, it is not going to be possible to proceed with the event this year.”
“With such large numbers of exhibitors and spectators expected, we have no choice but to cancel the event,” they continue. “For now, we hope that everyone stays safe, and while we are saddened that we cannot proceed this year, we look forward to brighter days ahead. We hope to see everyone in 2022.” We at Irish Vintage Scene echo their sentiments, and look forward to returning to Kilbroney in the summer of 2022.
