With the UK and Northern Ireland raising restrictions on the 24th of May to allow up to 500 people to be present at an outdoor sports event, dates are starting to be confirmed for motoring events north of the border that are sure to be of interest to petrol-heads from all over the island.
The first of these we’ve heard about is the Croft Hillclimb, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday the 12th of June in Holywood, just outside Belfast. Hosted by the Thoroughbred Sports Car Club (Northern Ireland), this event enjoys a long and illustrious history, being first run in the 1930s, and in recent years it had enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to the efforts of the TSSCNI. While the organisers advise that the date could still change in the event of a setback in Covid restrictions, let’s hope that this well-known event can go ahead on the 12th of June to kickstart some motorsport on the island at long last.
