IRISH VINTAGE SCENE ISSUE 221
Taking the cover of the November 2024 edition of Irish Vintage Scene is a Triumph Stag that was registered new in 1977 to the Dunnes Stores company in Dublin – taken on by its current owner as a rolling project in the early 2000s, it’s been refreshed twice since then and is still providing plenty of smiles per mile. Our second feature car is another well-known British classic, an Austin A40 Farina that’s been evoking childhood memories for its owner for the last thirty years.
This month’s featured tractor has to be one of the best-looking Massey Ferguson 135s we’ve seen in a while – still in its original family from new, it was restored in the last year fully at home, with no professionals called upon. Our motorcycle feature delves into the history of the Yamaha YL-1 twin, one of the finest 100cc two-strokes of the sixties, while our commercial feature showcases an absolutely stunning 1963 VW split-screen bus that not only was restored from an abandoned wreck, but also packed with modern and innovative running gear. Lots of the usual favourites are in there too, so don’t miss out!
RETRO CLASSICS ISSUE 55
The October to December 2024 issue of Retro Classics is now on sale at good newsagents nationwide, or direct from us by ordering online quickly and conveniently, and as usual we’ve another highly varied selection of feature cars to bring you. Gracing the cover is a stunning 1974 Porsche 911 Targa that’s been modified into a pre-’73-style hot-rod, complete with 3.2 Carrera engine on ITBs and a whole host of unique touches.
Further into the mag, we showcase one of the craziest customs we’ve come across in a long time – this Ford Cortina P100 pickup was literally saved from the scrap truck, before being transformed into a one-off American-style cruiser with a BMW turbo-diesel under the bonnet! We also look at a rare 1986 Honda Civic Si, celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the Lancia Thema and get up close with a Mk3 Capri that’s been bestowed with turbocharged Cosworth YB power.
Event reports in this issue come from Classic Fest ’24, Old School New School, Cultra Hillclimb, the Donegal Rally and Stormont Classic Car Show, our regular detailing guide advises you how to correctly store your classic for the winter, and we take a look back at the often-quirky car ads of decades past, so don’t miss out!
