Description
The cover story of the September 2024 edition of Irish Vintage Scene is the tale of a Cork-built Ford Anglia 105E that has not only never left its home county, but is still in the ownership of the same family that first drove around in it in 1963. Following a full restoration in the mid-1990s it’s still motoring as well as ever, and is a treasured keepsake for its owner. Our second feature car is a really unusual machine, a 1940s Riley RMA-based special that’s powered not by the company’s famous twin-cam engine, but a thunderous Sunbeam Tiger V8. As you can imagine, it’s quite a beast in which to blow out the cobwebs at the weekend…
The word ‘unique’ is bandied about a lot, but this month’s featured tractor truly lives up to the claim. This 1976 David Brown 1212 has not only been restored after spending years in the briars, but it’s been refinished in a one-off AC/DC-inspired colour scheme to reflect its lady owner’s musical tastes. Our motorcycle feature showcases not one, but two rare examples of the 1930s Excelsior Manxman, while our commercial vehicle feature tells the story of a 1940s Austin K6 lorry that’s been the subject of a comprehensive rebuild by a talented father-and-son team.
Lots of the usual favourites are in there too, including a report on our own Classic Fest 2024 show held recently at Galway Racecourse, so don’t miss out!
