Description
The October 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 89) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. On the cover this month we bring another true rarity to our readers; the luxurious Wolseley 15/60 was never the most numerous of the B-Series Farina models in the first place, with the cheaper Morris Oxford and Austin Cambridge ruling the sales figures, so nowadays they are thin on the ground. However, this one is thought to be unique as it’s the only known Irish-assembled early model in existence, having been put together by Booth-Poole’s of Dublin in early 1959. Moving further into the magazine we also take a look at another rare motor, a 1941 Buick Eight, which simply epitomises the elegance and largesse of motoring in the US in the 1940s.
Our feature tractors this month are just about as different from each other as you could get. The first is a little Lanz Alldog tool carrier from the early fifties, which has been modified by its owner to run a modern Kubota in place of the troublesome and unrefined original single. The second is a County 754, a four-wheel-drive monster that might look good now, but in fact was lucky to survive both a trip to the scrapyard and a subsequent workplace fire!
Motorcycle enthusiasts will be interested to read about the sixtieth anniversary of the machine that gave a countless bikers their start; the legendary NSU Quickly moped, while our commercial feature this month looks at a very fine Northern Ireland-based collection of classic Volvo and Scania trucks.
With a long list of event reports, ranging from the 22nd Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show to the Shane’s Castle Steam Rally, plus all our usual attractions like Laid to Rust, Your Letters, News & Events and lots, lots more, you won’t want to miss the October 2013 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
