On Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th of June, a group on vintage tractors will depart from Virginia in Co. Cavan to travel over 100 miles to Donaghmore in Co. Laois. The group will be raising funds for “To Russia with Love,” a small charity based in Clontarf in Dublin, who work tirelessly with children in orphanages in Russia.
On the first day the group will travel via Kells, Clonmellon, Delvin and Mullingar before arriving in Kilbeggan for their overnight stop. Saturday 6th takes the group to Tullamore, Killeigh and Mountrath before arriving at the Swallows’ Quarter in Donaghmore for the national crank-up and TVO day on Sunday 7th June.
This event is another of the many, charity, fundraising events that the Windmill Vintage Tractor & Machinery Club undertakes every year, and will also involve members of Lisdoonan Vintage Club in Co. Monaghan.
They will be collecting in Virginia on Friday the 29th of May and Mullingar on Friday the 5th of June. They urgently need help from volunteers to collect in Mullingar and would like to hear from anyone who is interested in meeting up with them on the route or in helping in any way.
